Photo walk

More images from our first night in NYC (365:73)

Our smallish accommodations. Kat’s Deli. Learning about the Metro.  Times Square. Late night photo walking.

Brooklyn Bridge life & culture (365:70)

We crossed the Brooklyn Bridge on foot and soaked in the great views with vigor. The sun was out and there were plenty of other tourists taking advantage of it. It was nice to see a few bikers crossing the bridge as well. Some looked like couriers and others just looked like they were taking [...]

The Met & Jimmy Fallon (365:69)

Today we visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art and it’s just as expansive and diverse as one could possibly imagine. We spent hours combing the halls and exhibits and I don’t think we even got through half of it. I’m certain I didn’t absorb or appreciate the works there nearly enough. Carnegie deli was also [...]

American Natural History Museum & hot dogs (365:68)

Yes that’s right. The American Natural History Museum & hot dogs. One was enlightening and the other was uplifting. I kid you not. The Grey’s Papaya frankfurters were like an oasis in a barren desert of hunger. This also marks the first time I’ve ever had to use an ISO setting higher than 3200. Scrolling [...]

A couple of snaps from Wall Street (365:67)

Just a few shots from Wall Street. And from the subway below.

9/11 Memorial (365:66)

We visited the 9/11 Memorial today and it was a somber experience. Security was understandably tight and it seemed like the area was a bit over crowded with people who were more so there to say they were there rather than to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in the tragic event. [...]

Top of the Rock (365:65)

After seeing the night lights twinkle out into the distance from the top of the Empire State Building, I was excited to get a glimpse of “The City” from another vantage point during the day. We made it up to the Top of Rockefeller Center in good time to catch golden hour and the view [...]

Grand Central Station (365:64)

As per the title: Grand Central Station, New York, New York.  I read somewhere once that a number of great and intriguing photographs were taken by simply looking up. I’ve tried to adopt that into my own practices. So here is the ceiling.

So this happened in NYC (365:63)

It snowed. The weather may have taken us by surprise, but there was nothing negative about the experience.

A taste of MoMA (365:62)

While in New York we got a chance to visit MoMA, which has sort of been on my bucket list for awhile now. It was definitely very interesting. A lot of the art was perhaps too abstract for my own understanding (especially the abstract works), but that didn’t lessen my appreciation for the installation or [...]

Quick post for first day in New York City! (365:61)

Arrived a bit earlier than expected in New York City. Our accommodations are a bit cramped, but I don’t foresee us spending much time here. Just a quick little teaser post of our little stroll through Times Square. It’s actually a lot more spread out than the media and new years eve bashes led me [...]

Long exposure landscapes (365:58)

I went for another short walk late yesterday evening and even though I didn’t have my tripod handy I was able to snap a few long exposure shots of this beautiful city. The sky was hauntingly beautiful, even with the clouds obscuring the stars, and I couldn’t help but revel in the horizon lit by [...]
