I sit here at my laptop with my back arched in a horrendously unnatural manner, in protest of my perpetually poor posture, letting the sounds of lyric-less jazz wash over me. The thought occurs to me that I have already pondered my approach to this blog post for over 25 fruitless minutes. With no photo fodder to [...]
Gastown
A polaroid lunch with a friend.
So I’ve been terribly backed up lately. Sandwiched between work and school I haven’t had a lot of time to get behind the camera or really do anything else of creative substance. I guess life just gets like that sometimes but in a situation like that there isn’t much that one can do but putter [...]
Portrait of a Stranger: Carla Miranda
With the weather warming up just in time for the holiday weekend I took it upon myself to enjoy as much of the outdoors as I possibly could. Friday morning encompassed a leisurely bike ride around the Seawall and Stanley Park with some good friends. Saturday (starting at 5am) I was put through my paces [...]
#604PhotoWalk 7
Being so enamoured with the Fred Herzog exhibit at the Equinox Project Space it was decided that we would all go one more time to take it all in again. It just so happened that it was St. Patrick’s day as well, which created a lot of fodder for our collective creativity. Gathering a larger [...]
My first behind the scenes experience at a fashion photo shoot.
I recently had the privilege of being invited with my colleague Vince Chow (of www.vincechow.com) to a behind the scenes look at a fashion photo shoot with Nhi Le (of www.noyophoto.com). I have to say that snapping a few photos and learning the process from a photographer’s point of view provided me with some pretty [...]
Some more portrait work.
Needless to say I am really enjoying this somewhat new found passion for (street) portraiture. Most of the people I’ve encountered so far have been open and willing to allow me to snap a photo of them and with any luck this has not only given me the privilege practicing something I love to do, [...]
So it snowed…
Being out of town for most of January, I missed our world halting snow fall earlier this year. So I wouldn’t feel left out, Mother Nature decided that it would lightly dust the city with the white stuff. For any international readers out there, while this is late into the month of February, please note [...]
La Casita
La Casita. Having been introduced to this place awhile back, I had a decidedly strong craving more recently for some Mexican food. Remembering that the platters were pretty sizable, I thought La Casita would do a great job satiating my hunger.
#604PhotoWalk 3
To accommodate as many people as possible, two photo walk gatherings were organized in quick succession. Rounding out a smaller group on the second day we again hit the streets of downtown Vancouver after the sun had gone down (with drier if perhaps colder weather). In attendance this evening were: Vince Chow (of www.vincechow.ca), Cicy [...]
A second #604PhotoWalk
So we managed to have enough fun on the first #604PhotoWalk that there was enough interest to organize a second (and even third!) jaunt around downtown Vancouver. This time we took to the streets after dark and even though it was probably the wettest weather we had all seen in an otherwise very mild winter, [...]
A little bit of random photography.
Regardless of the waning weather our corner of the world is experiencing right now, I find that I still enjoy taking reflective walks around town. Day or night, rain or snow, with a friend or alone in my music and thoughts, I can’t help but admire our fair city and its inhabitants.
