So the padlock photo I snapped on the Burrard Street bridge last week made it onto the Province website. The link is here. I answered a tweet from @cwistal & @vancitybuzz and by sheer coincidence had the picture they were looking for! There’s a chance the image will make it in the physical newspaper as [...]
Downtown
A couple of photos I liked from 2012 (365:46)
As the title of this post states:
A dark alley (365:38)
Strained for a subject, I took a short stroll around downtown. There are definitely much more vibrant photos that could have been taken. People stumbling out of night clubs in a daze or life being lived in some other form on this friday evening. But when I came across this alley, it somehow felt oppressively bleak.
Revisiting Milano Cafe (365:31)
I sit here at my laptop with my back arched in a horrendously unnatural manner, in protest of my perpetually poor posture, letting the sounds of lyric-less jazz wash over me. The thought occurs to me that I have already pondered my approach to this blog post for over 25 fruitless minutes. With no photo fodder to [...]
Games night (365:4)
Games night. A(n almost) weekly ritual. Not much to say about this photo except that this is straight out of camera.
New year, new project (365:1)
Happy new year! I’ve been thinking about doing an ongoing photography project for quite some time now and what better time to start one than on the first of the year? So in that vein, I’ll be trying my hand at a 365 project. It’ll be open and casual. Some days might not have a [...]
A polaroid lunch with a friend.
So I’ve been terribly backed up lately. Sandwiched between work and school I haven’t had a lot of time to get behind the camera or really do anything else of creative substance. I guess life just gets like that sometimes but in a situation like that there isn’t much that one can do but putter [...]
Harvest Community Foods
Harvest Community Foods is part organic grocery, part diner that not only serves the communities of Chinatown and Strathcona, but can thank interested residents for their business model as well. Born from a truly innovative idea, the owners of the commercial unit put the question of what kind of business the space should contain out [...]
Portrait of a Stranger: Carla Miranda
With the weather warming up just in time for the holiday weekend I took it upon myself to enjoy as much of the outdoors as I possibly could. Friday morning encompassed a leisurely bike ride around the Seawall and Stanley Park with some good friends. Saturday (starting at 5am) I was put through my paces [...]
An afternoon with Patrick Leung
After our most recent #604PhotoWalk, which can be found HERE, I got a chance to meet up with Patrick Leung (of www.patrickleung.com) again for another photo walk. Here’s what I captured. One of my favourite shots of the day. Older cars seemed to be a recurring theme during the day and I managed to capture [...]
#604PhotoWalk 7
Being so enamoured with the Fred Herzog exhibit at the Equinox Project Space it was decided that we would all go one more time to take it all in again. It just so happened that it was St. Patrick’s day as well, which created a lot of fodder for our collective creativity. Gathering a larger [...]
