I had the distinct pleasure of visiting Amy Ruth’s Chicken & Waffles joint while in New York. The service was exceptionally friendly and the food delivered on it’s promise of southern down home comfort. My only regret was not getting a chance to eat there again.

American Natural History Museum & hot dogs (365:68)
Yes that’s right. The American Natural History Museum & hot dogs. One was enlightening and the other was uplifting. I kid you not. The Grey’s Papaya frankfurters were like an oasis in a barren desert of hunger. This also marks the first time I’ve ever had to use an ISO setting higher than 3200. Scrolling [...]
Harvest Community Foods
Harvest Community Foods is part organic grocery, part diner that not only serves the communities of Chinatown and Strathcona, but can thank interested residents for their business model as well. Born from a truly innovative idea, the owners of the commercial unit put the question of what kind of business the space should contain out [...]
Legendary Noodle
Legendary Noodle is a noodle house that has caught my attention on more than one occasion in passing while making my way up and/or down Denman Street. The large and succinct signage expresses a couple of things that together would make a great meal. Being in the area on a somewhat dreary day, I took [...]
Save on Meats
FINALLY (the word is emblazoned in capitalized lettering for emphasis) getting around to Save on Meats, I had the pleasure of enjoying a lunch with Irv (@IrvLau). I actually work within walking distance of restaurant/butcher shop and I have been meaning to go since the grand return of the iconic Downtown Eastside diner (hence the [...]
La Casita
La Casita. Having been introduced to this place awhile back, I had a decidedly strong craving more recently for some Mexican food. Remembering that the platters were pretty sizable, I thought La Casita would do a great job satiating my hunger.
A fourth #604PhotoWalk
After a triumphant return from South America, I was itching to revive the old #604Photowalk spirit. And with some word of mouth, this most recent gathering introduced some new faces to the mix. In attendance at this meet up, in no particular order, were: Brian Shaler (@bdshaler) Irv Lau (@irvlau) Cicy Chan (@cicychan) Nhi Le [...]
#604PhotoWalk 3
To accommodate as many people as possible, two photo walk gatherings were organized in quick succession. Rounding out a smaller group on the second day we again hit the streets of downtown Vancouver after the sun had gone down (with drier if perhaps colder weather). In attendance this evening were: Vince Chow (of www.vincechow.ca), Cicy [...]
A second #604PhotoWalk
So we managed to have enough fun on the first #604PhotoWalk that there was enough interest to organize a second (and even third!) jaunt around downtown Vancouver. This time we took to the streets after dark and even though it was probably the wettest weather we had all seen in an otherwise very mild winter, [...]
